As the world around us is constantly changing and banks come and go, Citizens State Bank is a family owned bank that has been quietly doing things right for over 85 years. Citizens State Bank feels one of its greatest attributes is its deep roots within the community. CSB is a well-established business and holds a prominent status in both its Woodville and Marlin locations. On Sept 2, 1909 in the heart of Marlin, a group of citizens gathered to organize the First State Bank of Marlin. On Sept 15, 1909 the new bank opened its doors and ultimately survived two great depressions. Meanwhile in Woodville on July 30, 1919, Citizens State Bank was incorporated and became the 1,197th bank to receive charter from the great State of Texas. CSB was then reissued a bank charter by the State and became a member of the FDIC on July 2, 1934. In 1993, the First State Bank of Marlin became Citizens State Bank – Marlin. In August of 1997, a new branch was opened in Spurger. Our Woodville location serves as the home office. Each year, CSB hosts a grand celebration at its Woodville and Marlin locations honoring our great customers during anniversary week. This is a fun-filled time for all with complimentary barbeque sandwiches, fun for the kids, and great fellowship between bankers and customers. At Citizens State Bank, we are one family serving another.
